Things to do with kids in Moraira
What is there to do in Moraira for children?
What is there to do in Moraira with children? A great deal more than just the beach, although for most families that is where it starts. The beaches are in the centre within walking distance, and so are the castle and the marina. A short way off you will find caves with stalactites, and within three quarters of an hour the water and animal parks of Benidorm. Below are the best ideas, from nearby to further afield.
Beaches for families
Platja de l’Ampolla, the largest beach in Moraira, has fine sand, usually calm water and a lifeguard in season. For families with young children this is the easiest choice. The smaller, shell-shaped beach of El Portet has shallow water. For older children who want to snorkel, the small coves of Les Platgetes are the interesting ones, with clear water and plenty to see below the surface. An overview of all the beaches and coves is on our page about the beaches in Moraira.
A tip for hot days
In July and August, go to the beach early: the morning is quieter and the sun less fierce. Keep the afternoon free for a siesta or an indoor activity, such as one of the caves below.
Small adventures in the village
The castle of Moraira on the beach was built around 1742 to defend the coast against pirates, a story children take to at once. On Friday mornings, from about 09:00 to 14:00, there is a market on the Parking Les Sorts site; let the children pick out fruit for lunch themselves. A walk past the boats in the marina rounds off the day quietly.
For children who walk well, the walk up to the Torre del Cap d’Or is a fine challenge: allow about an hour. The sixteenth-century tower had no door at ground level; the watchmen climbed in by rope ladder. More walks from the village are on walking in Moraira.

Water and animal parks
In Benidorm, about 40 to 45 minutes away, are the bigger parks. The Aqualandia water park is open in 2026 from 23 May to 27 September; children under 4 get in free. Mundomar has dolphins, sea lions and exotic birds, and the Terra Natura animal park is open from early April to early November. The Terra Mítica theme park is in Benidorm as well. Seasons, times and prices for all the parks are on our page about theme parks on the Costa Blanca.
Nature rather than slides? At the Algar waterfalls you will find waterfalls and natural pools in green surroundings.
Fiestas with children
If you are there in June, the costumes, the music and the great parade of Moros y Cristianos are an experience for children. During Moraira’s patron saint feasts in July there are activities for children on the programme too, and in August there is a medieval market in the old centre of Teulada. Do bear in mind that these fiestas involve a lot of fireworks and bangs. The regular periods are on fiestas and public holidays in Moraira.

Frequently asked questions about Moraira with children
Which beach in Moraira suits children?
Playa de l’Ampolla is a gentle, shallow beach that families come back to again and again — ideal for sitting quietly as a parent while the children play.
Which outings are good with children?
The first stretch of the climb up the Peñón de Ifach — as far as the tunnel straight through the rock — is an adventure in itself. The Cova de les Calaveres cave near Benidoleig, with its stalactites and archaeological finds, appeals to children too.
What should I watch out for on a climb or a cave visit with children?
Take sturdy shoes and enough water. The full climb of the Peñón de Ifach is ambitious with children; the first part as far as the tunnel is more manageable.
