Marina
The marina of Moraira

The marina of Moraira is within walking distance of Calamora: a row of white sailing boats and motor yachts, terraces in front of them, and in the evening one of the loveliest places in the village for a drink with a view of the water.
By day it is the departure point for sailing trips, diving outings and fishing trips; in the evening the terraces of the Club Náutico and the restaurants alongside fill up with people who have just come from the beach. It is one of those places in Moraira where you walk past without a plan and always find something to do.
Just walk down to it from Calamora — it is a few minutes, and the way there runs through the centre of the village.
The marina is within walking distance of our accommodation. Read more about renting an apartment in Moraira.
A harbour with character
Unlike the big marinas of the Costa Blanca, the harbour of Moraira (Puerto Deportivo de Moraira) has kept its small scale. No high-rise and no bustle, but an open, well-kept setting looking out over the Mediterranean, the Peñón de Ifach and the coastline. The harbour is run by Club Náutico Moraira, a non-profit association founded in 1975; the harbour itself dates from 1985.

On the headland beside the harbour stands the Castillo de Moraira, a coastal fort of 1742 built against pirate raids. Inside is a small visitor centre with multilingual presentations on piracy in the Mediterranean and the system of watchtowers along this coast. Admission is free.

Within a few minutes you can walk to the sandy Playa de l’Ampolla, the shops and supermarkets, the old village centre and the terraces and bars. From Calamora it is about five minutes on foot, straight through the centre. That makes the harbour not only a destination in itself but also a natural starting point for a day in Moraira.
