Driving times are indications outside rush hour; in July and August and around midday it can be busier, especially near Benidorm and Alicante.
Close to home: half a day
The Cova del Moraig, the marina and the Peñón de Ifach do not need a whole day. The cave and the cove at Benitachell are at their best in the morning, before the car park fills up. The marina of Moraira is in the village itself. For the climb up the Peñón de Ifach you have to book online in advance; anyone who would rather not climb can walk around the foot of the rock.
Inland: Algar and Guadalest in one day
The Algar waterfalls and the Guadalest valley lie about twenty minutes’ drive apart and together make a good day out. Start early at Algar, which gets busy in summer, then drive on to the reservoir and the mountain village. For the village itself, with its castle and museums, see our article on a visit to Guadalest.
Alicante and further south
The Castillo de Santa Bárbara and Playa del Postiguet are close together in Alicante: the lift up to the castle starts opposite the beach. Santa Pola and the little island of Tabarca lie a bit further and need a full day. For a wider look at the city, see our page on Alicante.
