Visit Ibiza

Visit Ibiza from Moraira

Visiting Ibiza from Moraira is simpler than many guests think. The ferry leaves from Dénia, about half an hour’s drive away, and is on the island within two to three hours. You can make a long day trip of it, but with one or two nights you get more out of it. This page sets out how the crossing works, what you need to arrange and what you can do on Ibiza.

By ferry from Dénia

The link between Dénia and Ibiza is operated solely by the Baleària line. There are fast ferries and conventional ships, and some sailings call at Formentera on the way. On the island you arrive in Ibiza Town (Eivissa) or in Sant Antoni, depending on the sailing.

Day trip or a few days?

A day trip only works if you go out on an early boat and come back on a late one. With two crossings of two to three hours each, that leaves you a few hours on the island — enough for Ibiza Town but not for the beaches. That is why many visitors choose at least one night. If you take the car, you can also explore the quieter side of the island. If you want to bring the car in summer, book well ahead.

Flying as an alternative

There are direct flights to Ibiza from Valencia airport. For a short visit the boat from Dénia is usually more practical, because the port is much closer to Moraira than the airport. More about the airports in the region is on our page flying to Moraira.

What you can do on Ibiza

Dalt Vila, the old town

The walled old town of Ibiza Town has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1999, as part of the entry Ibiza, biodiversity and culture. Dalt Vila sits on the hill above the harbour and can be explored on foot, which makes it a good destination if your boat arrives in Ibiza Town. Put on shoes with a good sole: the lanes climb steeply.

Beaches and coves

Outside the town there are countless coves. Without a car you depend on the bus or a taxi. With your own transport you can pick a quiet spot yourself, especially outside July and August.

Formentera

Because some sailings from Dénia go via Formentera, you can also combine your trip with the smaller neighbouring island. Check when booking which port your boat calls at.

Best season

Spring and autumn are the most pleasant months for a visit: the island is quieter and the temperatures are comfortable for walking. In high season there are the most boats, but prices and crowds are at their highest too. More about the climate by season is on our page about the best time to visit Moraira.
