Bars and nightlife in Moraira
Bars and nightlife in Moraira

Moraira has no strip of nightclubs and no high-rise, and that is exactly why many people come. What it does have: terraces that stay pleasant until late, a few good cocktail bars, roof terraces looking out over the harbour, and on the coast road one real nightclub with a garden.
How late
Most bars close between midnight and one or two. In July and August that runs on; out of season they close earlier and some places are shut one or two days a week. Each place’s page gives the times by day.
Where it happens
Around the Avenida de Madrid and the Calle Doctor Calatayud the bars lie within walking distance of each other, so you can make an evening of it without the car. At the marina it is quieter, with a view of the water.
Music and sport
Live music and DJ nights vary from week to week; places usually put their programme on their social media. If you want to watch a match or a Grand Prix, see watching sport: that page says place by place what goes on the screen.
Who is driving
The bars in the village are all within walking distance. If you are going to Calpe or Jávea, agree who is driving or take a taxi. In Spain the limit is 0.5 grams of alcohol per litre of blood, and 0.3 for anyone who has held a licence for less than two years; it is strictly enforced.

Frequently asked questions
How late are the bars in Moraira open?
Usually until between midnight and two. In high season it runs later, out of season earlier, and then some places are also shut one or two days a week.
Are there nightclubs in Moraira?
One, and no more than that: Saxo Disco Garden on the coast road towards Calpe, with a resident DJ who plays into the morning and a garden to recover in. Beyond that, going out in Moraira means terraces, cocktail bars and roof terraces. Anyone who wants a big club goes to Calpe or Benidorm.
Where is there live music?
A few bars in the village programme live music or a DJ, mainly at weekends and in high season. Because it varies from week to week, the current programme is on their social media; each place’s page has the link.
Can I watch a match somewhere?
Yes. Bar Jimmy’s on the promenade shows most matches, and Moodz puts a big screen outside for the Euros and the World Cup. Further afield there are places with screens indoors and out.
Do I need to book a bar?
Normally not. For a big match, a music night or with a group it is wise to ring ahead, certainly at the smaller places.
Where can you stay in Moraira, within walking distance of the bars?
Calamora is on the central roundabout of Moraira. The first restaurants and shops are about 50 metres away, the marina with its terraces some 250 metres and the sandy beach about 200 metres. So you need no car to go out. The apartment and the penthouse both have two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and access to the shared swimming pool with its children’s pool.
