Altogether the coastal towns of the Marina Alta hold nineteen Blue Flags in 2026. Below, by town, are the beaches worth the trip, with the driving time from Moraira. The beaches in the village itself are on the page about beaches in Moraira.

Go early or go outside the high season
In July and August these coves are full before nine. May, June and September give you the same water with half the crowds, and in those months you often pay nothing at Granadella on weekdays.
Jávea lies north of Moraira, about twenty minutes’ drive via Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The coast there is extremely varied: a sandy beach in the bay, small coves between the cliffs and a beach by the harbour.
- Playa del Arenal: the sandy beach of Jávea, with every facility and a Blue Flag again in 2026.
- La Granadella: a cove between the cliffs south of Jávea, with a Blue Flag.
- La Grava: the beach by the harbour of Jávea, also with a Blue Flag.
- Cala del Portitxol (Barraca): a small cove, also known as Cala de la Barraca.
On the way to Jávea you pass the turning for Cala del Moraig in Poble Nou de Benitatxell, a cove between the cliffs with a Blue Flag and the sea cave Cova del Moraig.
Calpe: beaches on either side of the Peñón de Ifach
Calpe lies about twenty minutes to the south, via the CV-746 coast road. The town has five Blue Flag beaches in 2026, the two largest of which are on either side of the rock.
- Playa de la Fossa: a long sandy beach on the north side of the Peñón.
- Playa del Arenal-Bol: a sandy beach on the town side, close to the Roman remains of the Baños de la Reina.
- Cantal Roig, Puerto Blanco and El Racó: smaller beaches, all three with a Blue Flag in 2026.
Behind the beaches lies the salt lagoon of Calpe, where with a little luck you can see flamingos. A trip to the beach combines well with the walk on the rock; see the day trip to Calpe and the Peñón de Ifach.
Dénia: kilometres of sandy beach and a rocky coast
Dénia is the furthest away, about half an hour’s drive to the north. North of the harbour long sandy beaches stretch away; to the south, towards the Cap de Sant Antoni, the coast is rocky. Dénia has seven Blue Flag beaches in 2026.
- Les Marines: a sandy beach north of the town, with a Blue Flag.
- Les Deveses: further north, towards Oliva, also with a Blue Flag.
- Punta del Raset and Marineta Cassiana: two of the other Blue Flag beaches.
- Les Rotes: rocky coast south of the harbour, towards the Cap de Sant Antoni.
Benissa: small coves on the coast road to Calpe
The coast of Benissa begins immediately south of Moraira. Along the CV-746 lie small coves, some with sand, most with pebbles or rock. Between the coves runs a made-up footpath with information boards.
- Cala del Baladrar: a small pebble cove with a beach bar and a small car park; lifeguard from late June to early September. Blue Flag in 2026.
- Cala de l’Advocat: a very small cove, reached by steps, with little parking. Blue Flag in 2026.
- Cala Pinets: a small rocky cove among the pines.
- La Fustera: the largest sandy beach in Benissa (about 100 metres), with a beach bar; the car park is often full in high season.
