Flying to Moraira – the easy way to reach your holiday destination

Flying to Moraira means landing at Alicante or Valencia: Moraira has no airport of its own. Alicante-Elche is the closer of the two, at around 95 kilometres, and is the logical choice for most travellers from the Netherlands and Belgium. Valencia is a good alternative when there is a better flight from there. Below you can compare both airports, see which direct services exist and read how to travel on after landing.

Alicante or Valencia: the two airports compared

The Spanish stretch of the AP-7 between Valencia and Alicante has been toll-free since 1 January 2020, so from either airport you pay no toll on the way. Driving times assume normal traffic; on summer Saturdays and around Spanish public holidays it can be busier.

One practical detail: the length of your flight also determines how much compensation you may be due if it is delayed. Amsterdam – Alicante falls just above the 1,500-kilometre threshold, while Amsterdam – Valencia and Brussels – Alicante fall just below it. Parking at your departure airport

If you drive to the airport in your own car, book a parking space in advance. Rates differ by period and by car park, so check the airport’s own website.

• Schiphol: P3 Long Stay is, according to Schiphol, the cheapest option. A free shuttle bus runs every ten minutes day and night and reaches the terminal in about five minutes. Booking is advised; for P6 Valet Parking and P12 it is compulsory.
• Rotterdam The Hague Airport: five car parks 1 to 10 minutes’ walk from the terminal, plus valet parking. You can book online up to 3 hours before arrival; for car park P5 booking is compulsory.
• Eindhoven Airport: has its own car parks beside the terminal. Bear in mind the closure from 1 February to 19 July 2027.

From the airport to Moraira

After landing, in four steps

1. Land at Alicante-Elche (ALC) or Valencia (VLC).
2. Collect the car from the rental desk at or just outside the airport.
3. AP-7: from Alicante head towards Valencia, from Valencia take the V-30 towards Alicante. The AP-7 is toll-free on this stretch.
4. Exit 63 (Benissa/Teulada), then follow the signs for Moraira. In the centre you park free of charge across the street from Calamora.

Hire car

A hire car gives you the most freedom, certainly if you also want to explore the area: most of the beaches, villages and day trips in this guide are easiest to reach by car. Transfer or taxi

A transfer booked in advance meets you in the arrivals hall and drops you off at the apartment. That is particularly welcome after a late landing or with a lot of luggage. See the page transfer service to Moraira.

Public transport

From Alicante-Elche, ALSA runs to Teulada, Benissa and Benitachell among others; bus C-6 takes you into the centre of Alicante, where you can change onto the tram. Which airport suits you?

If the shortest journey is what matters, Alicante is nearly always the better option. Valencia is worth considering if you can fly more cheaply or at a better time from there, or if you want to combine your stay with a few days in the city; for that, see also Valencia from Moraira.
