Diving & snorkelling

Diving & snorkelling in Moraira – discover the underwater world of the Costa Blanca

Diving and snorkelling in Moraira can be done straight from the shore: the rocky coves around the village have shallow stretches with seagrass meadows (posidonia), boulders and sandy patches where you see a great deal without any qualification. The municipality of Teulada-Moraira itself describes six snorkelling and diving routes along its own coast. Anyone wanting to dive with compressed air needs training at a recognised centre; for that there is a dive centre on the coast road towards Calpe.

Practical tips

  • Bring your own mask, snorkel and fins or hire them locally; a thin wetsuit is welcome outside summer.
  • The municipality advises marking your position with a visible buoy and never snorkelling alone. At El Portet that matters all the more: in high season there is a lot of boat traffic.
  • Go in the morning if you can, when the water is usually calmest and the beach still empty.
  • Leave the seagrass meadows alone: do not stand on them and do not drop anchor in the posidonia.

Combining snorkelling and paddling

A kayak or paddleboard trip along the Cap d’Or with a snorkelling stop is a good way to reach places that are awkward from the shore. More about that is on the page stand-up paddle and kayaking in Moraira.

Combine it with

After snorkelling at l’Andragó you are moments from the terrace of Algas l’Andragó. If you want to know first which beach suits you, take a look at the beaches in Moraira; for a quiet cove a little further off there is Cala Llebeig.
