Cash machines and banks
In the centre of Moraira there are several banks with a cash machine (cajero automático). Two examples:
- CaixaBank (HolaBank Moraira), Avenida de la Paz 3: cash machine 24 hours a day; the branch is open on weekday mornings.
- Banco Sabadell, Avenida de Madrid: a branch with a cash machine in the centre.
Watch the charges when you withdraw: some machines levy a withdrawal fee and offer to convert straight away into your own currency. With a European card, always choose to be charged in euros. At the weekly market by no means every stall takes a card, so bring some cash.
Market and groceries
Every Friday morning Moraira holds its weekly market, on the Parking Les Sorts ground, from about 9:00 to 14:00. Bear in mind that the market stands on a large car park, so parking is harder on Friday morning. An overview of supermarkets, shops and the markets in the surrounding towns is on the page about shops and market in Moraira.
Power and sockets
Spain uses 230 volts and 50 Hz with type C and F sockets, the same as in most of continental Europe. Continental European appliances therefore need no adapter; plugs from the United Kingdom do.
Getting around locally
The centre of Moraira is easy to cover on foot. For trips in the area a car is the most convenient; there is also a regional bus towards Calpe. You can read more about that under getting around Moraira.
