Eating out with children in Moraira and the surrounding area

Eating out with children in Moraira and the surrounding area

Eating out with children is easy in Spain. Children are welcome in almost every restaurant, nobody looks twice at a lively table, and on a terrace they have more room than in a restaurant back home. Even so, it makes an enormous difference whether there is actually something to do while you sit.

Two addresses where children really do keep busy

Close to Moraira there are two places where you can eat in peace because the children are occupied. At Grand Café Flo in Jávea a twelve-hole mini-golf course runs between tropical planting, with a playground as well. A round costs five euros for adults and three euros for children up to twelve. At Soluna Beach, also in Jávea, there is a swimming pool with sunbeds, a playground and a stretch of beach; there they swim while you stay at the table.

About mealtimes

Spanish kitchens open between 13:00 and 15:30 and then not again until around 19:30 or 20:00. That sounds late, but it actually works well with children: go at half past seven and you are among the first, it is still quiet and the service is quick. Only from around nine does it get busy. On a terrace by the harbour it also stays pleasant late into a summer evening, and nobody minds children still wandering about there.

High chairs and children’s menus

A menú infantil is quite normal in Spain and usually consists of something simple with chips. High chairs are available almost everywhere, but not in every small tapas bar. Ask when you book: the page for each place gives the telephone number.

And the beach

The beach restaurants in the coves around Moraira are often the easiest choice with children. You sit by the water, they can swim between courses, and the whole thing is relaxed. For those, look at the chiringuitos and the beach clubs as well.
