Best season for sport
For water sports, June to September are the best months; the water is warmest then, and some activities, such as jet skiing, are only available in summer. For golf, cycling, running and tennis, spring, autumn and winter are the more comfortable seasons. In July and August it is best to do land sports early in the morning or in the evening. Which water sports can I do in Moraira?
Moraira offers a wide choice for water sports. From the marina you can sail, kayak, stand-up paddleboard, dive and snorkel. There are schools offering guided sessions. Jet ski and water ski are also possible in season. The clear water of El Portet and Cala l'Andragó is ideal for snorkelling.
Are there tennis or padel courts in Moraira?
Yes. The Centro Deportivo Municipal in Moraira has tennis and padel courts available to hire. Various hotels and resorts in the area have courts as well. Padel is particularly popular in Spain and there are several courts in Moraira and the immediate area.
Are there golf courses near Moraira?
Yes, there are several golf courses a short distance from Moraira. La Sella Golf (Denia, 25 min) and Villaitana Golf (Benidorm, 40 min) are popular options. The nearest course is Club de Golf Ifach in Benissa (Urb. San Jaime), about 15 minutes' drive. Moraira itself has no golf course.
Can I run or cycle around Moraira?
Certainly. There are fine running routes along the coastline and through the hinterland. Popular routes head towards the Torre Vigia (watchtower), El Portet and Cala Llebeig. For cycling there are both mountain-bike and road routes. Bicycle hire is available in Moraira and the surrounding area. The roads are relatively quiet outside the high season.
Where can I dive in Moraira?
There is a dive school in the marina of Moraira offering guided dives, courses and equipment hire. The Costa Blanca has excellent dive sites, including rock walls, caves and rich underwater life. The Cova del Moraig in Benitachell (15 min) is a well-known site for experienced divers.
