What’s on in Moraira

What there is to do in Moraira, month by month

In Moraira and in Teulada up the hill there is something on almost all year round. A procession of Moors and Christians that lasts ten days, a procession by sea for the patron saint of seafarers, a medieval market in the old village and, at the end of September, a Bavarian tent on the car park by the beach. Below is what happens when, with the weekly markets, the addresses and the times.

The dates of the fiestas shift by a few days each year, because they hang on saints’ days and weekends. The years given below are those of 2026. At the foot of this page you will find where to get this year’s programme.

The coming months

Outside the high season Moraira is quiet, but not silent. The weekly market goes ahead every Friday morning. In December there is a Christmas market in the centre and the village is lit up. On 5 January the Three Kings parade winds through the streets, and in the middle of January comes Sant Antoni, with bonfires and the blessing of the animals.

The next big fiesta is Semana Santa in spring, followed by the patron saint fiestas of Teulada in April and the Moors and Christians at the beginning of June.

Fiestas through the year

January and February

5 January, Three Kings. At the start of the evening the Cabalgata de Reyes passes through Moraira. The three kings hand out sweets to the children; in harbour towns they often arrive across the water. For Spanish children this is the evening of presents, not Christmas Eve.

Mid-January, Sant Antoni. The feast of the patron saint of animals, with bonfires and a blessing of the pets on the square.

February, carnival. A fancy-dress parade through the village. The date hangs on Easter and so shifts from year to year.

Spring

March or April, Semana Santa. In the week before Easter there are processions in both Teulada and Moraira.

April, patron saint fiestas of Teulada. In honour of Sant Vicent Ferrer, the patron saint of the old village. In 2026 this fell around 9 to 13 April: traditional dress, music and processions through the narrow streets of the historic centre.

June: Moors and Christians

The biggest fiesta in Moraira, and the one the village looks forward to all year. In 2026 it ran from 5 to 14 June. The filàs, the associations that form the Moorish and the Christian side, march through the village in costume. The fixed elements:

  • the opening with the pregón in Espai la Senieta, on 5 June at 20:00;
  • the Moorish embassy on the beach of l’Ampolla, on Friday 12 June at 23:00;
  • the Christian embassy in the same place, on Saturday 13 June at 20:00;
  • the great closing parade through the centre, on Sunday 14 June at 20:00;
  • along with arcabuceria (salute shots with old muskets), a flower offering and fireworks.

23 June, the night of San Juan. The shortest night of the year is celebrated on the beach, with fires and a dip in the sea at midnight.

July: patron saint fiestas of Moraira

About twelve days of fiesta in honour of the Virgen de los Desamparados (15 July) and the Virgen del Carmen (16 July), the patron saint of seafarers. In practice it runs from the beginning of July to about the twentieth. What you can see:

  • the sea procession: the statue of the Virgen del Carmen goes aboard and sails around the bay with a flotilla of decorated boats;
  • bous a la mar: three days of bull sport in a fenced arena by the harbour, in which participants and bull regularly end up in the water;
  • the flower offering on 14 July, the mascleta (daytime firecrackers) and a piromusical with fireworks over the water;
  • bands on the esplanade by the castle, a parade with fireworks (l’Entrà de la Murta) and, on Sunday, a giant paella.

August

Medieval market in Teulada. In 2026 from 6 to 9 August in the historic centre: craftspeople, fire-eaters, music and food among the old houses. The old village is about ten minutes’ drive inland.

End of September: Oktoberfest

Four days of a Bavarian tent on Parking Les Sorts, with live music, DJs and German food. Free entry. In 2026 from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 September. It is organised by the fiesta committees of Sant Vicent Ferrer Teulada and the Festeros de Moraira.

November and December

End of November, Santa Caterina. The feast of the patron saint of Teulada, celebrated in the old village.

December. In the weeks before Christmas there is a Christmas market in Moraira, the centre is lit up and a nativity scene is set out. The cycle closes on 5 January with the Three Kings parade.
