Jalon Xalo flea market
Visit the flea market of Jalón (Xaló)
The flea market of Jalón (Xaló), known in the area as the Rastro de Xaló, is one of the busiest markets in the Marina Alta every Saturday morning. The village lies inland, about twenty minutes by car from Moraira. The market specialises in antiques, old furniture and curiosities, and goes well with a wine tasting in the same village.
In short
Every Saturday, roughly from 09:00 to 14:00, on the Paseo de la Alameda along the river in Jalón. From Moraira ± 19 km, about 20 minutes by car. Times can shift slightly with the season.
What you find at the market
The rastro began in 1992 with fourteen stalls and has grown into a market with more than 250 pitches. The emphasis is on things with a past: old furniture and household goods, ceramics and earthenware jugs, coins and stamps, old cameras, farm tools and collectables such as fossils and shells.
If you are after fresh vegetables, fruit and everyday shopping, you are better off at the ordinary weekly markets. An overview of the market days in Moraira and the area is on our page shops and market in Moraira.
Getting there from Moraira

On Saturdays visitors also arrive by organised coach from Benidorm among other places, so it gets busy in and around the village as the morning goes on.

Tips for your visit
- Come early: it is still cooler then and you have the widest choice.
- Bring cash; at a flea market that is simply the easiest.
- Haggling is part of it for larger purchases, but keep it friendly.
- Wear sturdy shoes, and in summer take water and something for your head; there is little shade between the stalls.
- If you buy a large piece of furniture, ask whether the dealer can help with transport.
Combine it with wine from Jalón
Jalón lies in the Vall de Pop and is known for its muscat wines. In the village itself is the wine cooperative Bodegas Xaló (Cooperativa Virgen Pobre de Xaló), where you can taste and buy wine, mistela, vermouth and olive oil from the area. The shop is open on Saturday mornings too, so you can take in the market and the bodega in one morning.
