Niet hun leeftijd, niet hun gewicht \u2014 hun lengte. Diezelfde dienst <em>adviseert<\/em> bovendien om door te gaan tot 150 centimeter, omdat de gordel pas dan echt goed over het lichaam loopt. Dat laatste is een advies, geen plicht.<\/p>\n<h2>Voorin mag alleen in drie gevallen<\/h2>\n<p>Het kind hoort achterin. Voorin mag het alleen als de auto geen achterbank heeft, als alle achterzitplaatsen al door andere kinderen bezet zijn, of als de zitjes achterin niet te plaatsen zijn. Zit er dan een voorwaarts gericht zitje voorin, dan moet de <strong>airbag uitgeschakeld<\/strong> zijn.<\/p>\n<h2>Welke norm, en waarom dat uitmaakt<\/h2>\n<p>De geldende norm is <strong>R129<\/strong>, beter bekend als <strong>i-Size<\/strong>. Die werkt met lengte, net als de Spaanse regel, en dat maakt hem eenvoudig: past het zitje bij de lengte van uw kind, dan zit u goed. Oudere zitjes volgens <strong>R44<\/strong> mogen nog gebruikt worden, maar mogen sinds september 2024 niet meer verkocht of ingevoerd worden. Bij R44 komt u de oude gewichtsgroepen nog tegen: groep 0 tot tien kilo, 0+ tot dertien kilo, I van negen tot achttien, en II en III van vijftien tot zesendertig kilo.<\/p>\n<h2>Huren of zelf meenemen?<\/h2>\n<p>U kunt een kinderzitje bij uw huurauto <strong>reserveren<\/strong>, maar u <strong>betaalt het ter plaatse<\/strong> aan de plaatselijke verhuurder. Welke zitjes er beschikbaar zijn en wat ze kosten, staat per huurauto in de specifieke huurvoorwaarden \u2014 daarom noemen wij hier geen bedrag. Reserveer wel tijdig: op de meeste bestemmingen is het aantal zitjes beperkt.<\/p>\n<p>Zelf meenemen heeft twee voordelen die het sleuren waard kunnen zijn: u weet welke norm het zitje heeft en in welke staat het is, en uw kind zit in iets bekends. Wat een luchtvaartmaatschappij voor het vervoer van een zitje rekent, verschilt per maatschappij; kijk dat na bij uw vlucht.<\/p>\n<h2>Een taxi is de uitzondering, een huurauto niet<\/h2>\n<p>Dit veroorzaakt geregeld verwarring. In een <strong>taxi<\/strong> mag een kind onder de 135 centimeter in stadsverkeer zonder zitje vervoerd worden, mits het achterin zit. Buiten de bebouwde kom en op de snelweg geldt die uitzondering niet. Voor een <strong>huurauto bestaat helemaal geen uitzondering<\/strong>: dat is een gewone personenauto en daar geldt de regel onverkort.<\/p>\n<h2>Wat het kost als het niet in orde is<\/h2>\n<p>Een kind zonder of in een verkeerd kinderzitje kost <strong>tweehonderd euro en vier strafpunten<\/strong>. Bij een huurauto komt daar nog iets bij dat zwaarder weegt dan de boete: boetes blijven voor uw eigen rekening, en verhuurders rekenen in de praktijk administratiekosten voor het doorgeven van uw gegevens.
