Runners can follow the coast straight from the centre; road cyclists and mountain bikers find quiet back roads in the Marina Alta and well-known climbs such as the Coll de Rates. Bikes can be hired from a specialist hire business in Moraira.<\/p>\n<h2>Running from the centre<\/h2>\n<p>From the centre you reach the harbour and the coast in a few minutes. Heading north you come to El Portet beach after about a kilometre; to the south the road to Calpe follows the rocky coast past coves such as l\u2019Andrag\u00f3. Both directions are hilly, so expect a few stiff gradients. If you prefer unsurfaced ground, there are routes on the page <a href=\"\/en\/moraira\/walking-routes-around-moraira\/\">walking routes around Moraira<\/a>; the climb to the <a href=\"\/en\/moraira\/things-to-do-in-moraira\/climb-to-torre-de-vigia\/\">Torre de Vigia<\/a> is a short, sharp session with a view.<\/p>\n<h3>Tips for runners<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In July and August, run early in the morning or after sunset; the middle of the day is too hot.<\/li>\n<li>Mind the traffic on the coast road: where there is no pavement, run facing the traffic, and wear something reflective at dusk.<\/li>\n<li>In the warm months, always take water with you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Cycle routes: coast and hinterland<\/h2>\n<p>Tourist Info Teulada-Moraira describes three cycle routes in the municipality: Moraira \u2013 Benimarco \u2013 El Portet \u2013 Moraira, Teulada \u2013 Moraira \u2013 Abiar \u2013 Teulada and Teulada \u2013 Abiar \u2013 Font Santa \u2013 Teulada. The municipality is also building a cycle path between Teulada and Moraira; construction began in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>For road cyclists the hinterland is the big draw. The best known climb is the <strong>Coll de Rates<\/strong> from Parcent: 6.5 km at an average gradient of 5 %, 356 metres of climbing and a summit at 626 m, with a restaurant at the top.
