Beaches near Moraira<\/h2>\n

Outside the village, within half an hour’s drive, lie dozens of beaches and coves: the small calas of Benissa on the coast road to Calpe, the large sandy beaches of Calpe on either side of the Peñón de Ifach, the varied coast of Jávea (Xàbia) and the long sandy beaches of Dénia. Altogether the coastal towns of the Marina Alta hold nineteen Blue Flags in 2026. Below, by town, are the beaches worth the trip, with the driving time from Moraira. Jávea (Xàbia): sandy beach, coves and cliffs<\/h2>\n

Paid parking and booking at the busy coves<\/h2>\n

Two of the finest coves in the area are not simply there for the taking in season. At Cala Moraig you have to book in advance; at the coves of Jávea you pay on arrival and it is first come, first served. This is the kind of thing a day founders on, so arrange it before you set off.<\/p>\n

\n

Cala Moraig (Benitatxell) — booking compulsory<\/p>\n

Period<\/span> 1 April to 15 October, daily from 9.00 to 19.00; outside that, access is free<\/p>\n

Price<\/span> € 15 per vehicle for the whole day<\/p>\n

Booking<\/span> at calamoraig.es<\/a>, where you enter your registration and get a calendar of available days; also possible at the kiosk or the machine on site<\/p>\n

Checking<\/span> automatic number-plate recognition; you do not need a paper ticket<\/p>\n

Twenty free minutes<\/span> loading and unloading is allowed without a booking; stay longer and you risk a fine<\/p>\n

Exempt<\/span> motorcycles, scooters and bicycles; people with a disabled badge enter free of charge, but must email their documents at least three working days in advance to pmr@calamoraig.es<\/a><\/p>\n

No going back<\/span> an unused booking cannot be cancelled or changed<\/p>\n

Cala Granadella and Cala Barraca-Portitxol (Jávea) — pay, do not book<\/p>\n

Period<\/span> 2 June to 13 September daily; 14 September to 12 October weekends and public holidays only<\/p>\n

Hours<\/span> 9.00 to 19.00<\/p>\n

Price<\/span> € 9 per vehicle per day<\/p>\n

Paying<\/span> machine or the ElParking app; booking in advance is not possible<\/p>\n

Spaces<\/span> Granadella 130, Barraca-Portitxol 59; when it is full the barriers close and signs on the way show there is no point<\/p>\n

Without a car<\/span> from 3 July to 13 September a tourist train runs to Granadella from the La Guàrdia car park, hourly from 10.00 to 19.00, € 6 for adults and € 4 for children under twelve<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Go early or go outside the high season<\/p>\n

In July and August these coves are full before nine. May, June and September give you the same water with half the crowds, and in those months you often pay nothing at Granadella on weekdays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Jávea<\/strong><\/a> lies north of Moraira, about twenty minutes’ drive via Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The coast there is extremely varied: a sandy beach in the bay, small coves between the cliffs and a beach by the harbour.<\/p>\n
