For Moraira, Alicante is clearly closer. The cars are in <strong>car park P1<\/strong>, a minute from the terminal; you cross the road and follow the <em>Rent a Car<\/em> signs. The height limit of that car park is 2.30 metres, worth knowing if you have a large car or a roof box. Of the car park levels per company, only OK Mobility is published: level 1.<\/p>\n<h2>The difference that catches people out<\/h2>\n<p>Aena lists eight companies with a desk at the airport: <strong>Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Goldcar-InterRent, Hertz, OK Mobility, Sicily by Car and Sixt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Centauro and Record Go are not in the terminal here.<\/strong> Both run a shuttle with a meeting point at <strong>car park P6<\/strong>: you walk out of the arrivals hall, past the taxi rank, and cross at the roundabout to P6. Centauro is about seven minutes away by road and runs a bus every ten to fifteen minutes. At Alicante Airport these two are inside the terminal \u2014 going by the name alone will catch you out here.<\/p>\n<p>Give your flight number when you book here too; both companies say the bus will then be waiting.<\/p>\n<h2>How late can you collect?<\/h2>\n<p>Aena does not publish opening hours. The picture here is tighter than in Alicante: everything we found closes between 23:00 and 00:30, and we found <strong>no company open after 00:30<\/strong> and no key box arrangement either. Every driver must be named on the contract and present at pick-up with a licence and identification; if someone drives who is not on it, damage is not covered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A child seat.<\/strong> You reserve it in advance but pay for it locally. In Spain a child restraint is required up to 135 centimetres in height, and the child belongs in the back.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A cross-border surcharge.<\/strong> France or Portugal is possible, but you arrange it when you book. If you do not and you go anyway, the insurance lapses. Morocco is not allowed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Traffic fines.<\/strong> Those are always yours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The V-16: check this before you drive off<\/h2>\n<p>Since <strong>1 January 2026<\/strong> the orange roof beacon, the <strong>V-16 conectada<\/strong>, has been the only legal way in Spain to mark a stationary vehicle. The warning triangle has been withdrawn. The beacon has its own SIM card and reports your location to the traffic authority when you use it.<\/p>\n<p>A hire car has Spanish plates and therefore falls under the rule, and <strong>the driver is responsible<\/strong> for what is in the car. If the beacon is missing, that is a fine of eighty euros. Check at pick-up whether it is there, and have it noted if it is not. If you arrive in your own foreign-registered car, the opposite applies: you may keep your warning triangles.<\/p>\n<p>While you are at it, check that there is a <strong>high-visibility vest in the cabin<\/strong> rather than in the boot. The cars are in car park P1, a minute from the terminal; you cross the road and follow the Rent a Car signs.
